几天前在 The Book Depository 买了 《An Artist of the Floating World》 (Kazuo Ishiguro著),想收藏好久了。
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken.
A light from the shadow shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

The Stone Cage
"The Stone Cage" by Nicholas Stuart Gray.
A retelling of the story of Rapunzel.
“Following your instructions, mistress, I stationed myself at the summit of an elongated conifer...Being in a position to scrutinise the environment, I can now report the imminent arrival of additional population..."
Grimbold
Grimbold:
"Are you really a stray?"
...
"In order to stray, one must first belong. I do not belong."

The Architecture of Quotes
Just a joke.
Michelangelo Buonarroti
“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.”
"If people only knew how hard I work to gain my mastery, it wouldn't seem so wonderful at all."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“He who wishes to be rich in a day will be hanged in a year”
I almost forget that he invented the scissors.
*worship*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Frank Lloyd Wright
"The present is the ever moving shadow that divides yesterday from tomorrow. In that lies hope."
"Early in life I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose honest arrogance and have seen no occasion to change." In later years..."I feel coming on a strange disease -- humility."
"Youth is a quality, not a matter of circumstances."
(Don't you think he is an interesting man?)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Louis Kahn
"The creation of art is not the fulfillment of a need but the creation of a need. The world never needed Beethoven's Fifth Symphony until he created it. Now we could not live without it."
......well-put in words about what I thought about da Vinci's scissors. *clapclap*
His famous (infamous) quote:
“To express is to drive.
And when you want to give something presence,
you have to consult nature.
And there is where Design comes in.
And if you think of Brick, for instance,
and you say to Brick,
"What do you want Brick?"
And Brick says to you
"I like an Arch."
And if you say to Brick
"Look, arches are expensive,
and I can use a concrete lentil over you.
What do you think of that?"
"Brick?"
Brick says:
"... I like an Arch”
I like inspirations, the bad side is I get uninspired very quickly and usually forget about the inspirations but luckily I like inspirations (looping).
Show me fangs
I have finished watching 'Interview with the Vampire' the movie! Yaaaay
(I actually feel distressed as class starts tomorrow)
While reading the book, Lestat is the one I think is really interesting.
Lestat de Lioncourt. Even the name kills.
Lestat is sort of nuts.
And Tom Cruise as Lestat, just pleasant.
If he were to act more in this kind of movies, I will like him like I like Johnny Depp ;D
The author of the book initially objected to the casting of Tom Cruise as Lestat. But later she was impressed by his acting. I say, he was great. Kirsten Dunst is equally great. Like whoa. She was just 12 then.
Now only I know why are people labelling Brad Pitt as a 'pretty boy'. I should say I was born too late for his pretty-boy era.
Luckily, the second book of this chronicles is ------
Vampire Lestat.
This film was banned in Malaysia (hahahahaha)
This is not a book for everyone. It has that mysterious ancient smell which is just my cup of tea.
The movie is nice although they changed it a bit. A BIG change to the ending though.
"I assume I need no introduction". My favourite quotation in the whole movie.
咖啡猫的哲理
Garfield 这肥猫∶
· 喜欢喝咖啡 (对一只猫来说还真奇怪)
· 喜欢吃意大利面和Pizza
· 喜欢花儿。也喜欢破坏花儿。 (有点 S 的感觉 0_o)
· 超喜欢圣诞节
· 对自己的年龄非常在乎
· 讨厌星期一
· 喜欢它的玩具熊 (只有这点可以称得上可爱)
· 不喜欢抓老鼠
· 是现实主义者
Garfield 式的幽默,棒透了不是?
曾几何时,我对咖啡嗤之以鼻。对咖啡猫也嗤之以鼻。
我好友说喜欢,我记得我对她摆出一脸怪相。
有点莫名其妙。
从来都不是那种死都不愿改变的人。反之,我不介意变。
很多时候,我只是懒得理。
Stumble!
I stumbled into Wikiquote ne.
So I clicked on the big names hoping to see big words.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"We are what we think.
All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts we make the world."
"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it. "

Miaohahaha
What's with the laugh?
I have been reading a manga about a cat's everyday life, and he laughs that way.
See~ X)

Ahahahaha it makes me laugh. And I have a reason to laugh now.
The mangaka is quite a genius as she is able to draw the human side of cats with cats' demeanour. It's so damn amusing. Cats are good, you know.
(This manga is 《茶茶的日常生活》)
